Yakama Nation Economic Development
Human Services

The tribe's most precious resource is its people. Several projects are available and expanding to help improve the economic opportunities available to tribal members.

Small Business Entrepreneur Training
The tribe has developed an eight-week Business Entrepreneurial Training program for tribal members. The project's purpose is to provide small business start-up information to understand the requirements of success, avoid costly mistakes, and develop business skills. By assisting in the success of tribal businesses, the fund improves the overall tribal economy as well as the individual lives of tribal members.

Tribal Credit Enterprise
The Yakama Nation's Credit Enterprise provides financial assistance to tribal members, tribal enterprises and individually owned tribal member enterprises. Loan assistance will include: housing, economic development, utilization of reservation resources, and rehabilitation for businesses. This revolving loan fund concept is meant to lend money at a reasonable interest rate over a generous time span for the revolving loan concept to work.

Tribal Chamber of Commerce
The success of the Business Entrepreneurial Training program (above) has created a need for cooperative networking for tribal members and their businesses. This organization will enhance opportunities to do business with tribal businesses, heighten public awareness and target tribal youth interest in business.

 Tribal Business Procurement Opportunities
New and existing tribal businesses can explore expanding their markets by subcontracting with federal, state, county, city, and local agencies.
